Sunshine Baskets are opportunities to reach out to brave children and their families who need hope and inspiration along with a little hilarity as they face life changing medical struggles.  Sunshine Baskets are gifts of literature (books and audiobooks) that provide weeks of reading fun and special times of sharing between child and family members.

The inspiration for the Sunshine Basket comes from Ronda's third book in her Down On Friendly Acres series entitled, Hats Off to Heroes. Based on a true story, her mother gives a Sunshine Basket to the neighbor girl who sustained severe injuries in an auto accident. Ronda's mother, Jean Friend, knew the importance of “sharing sunshine” to hurting families. Through this valuable life lesson, Hats Off to Heroes inspires us all to sow random acts of kindness to young heroes facing medical challenges.

The core elements of the Sunshine Baskets are Ronda's books/audio books.  Each Sunshine Basket comes with a "30 Days of Smiles" resource sheet that is full of great ideas to help family members and friends personalize their loved one's Sunshine Basket with little gifts and notes tailored for their loved one.  The child then picks a note/gift everyday for 30 days that expresses love and encouragement from those people that matter most to them.

Because of this one book, Hats Off to Heroes, hundreds of courageous children battling health challenges have received Sunshine Baskets through schools and companies across the United States. We want to exponentially touch the lives of thousands of children by expanding our donor base by further enlisting the help of private individuals, businesses, corporations and foundations.



With the recent release of Pass Love Along our Sunshine Baskets now have a centerpiece book that will first and foremost be a source of hope and encouragement to every child and family who receives a Sunshine Basket.  By clicking on the book cover you can read more about the storyline of the book that features the real life story of 5 year old Tulsa native Caroline, her family and their journey to healing that began in the summer of 2015. We also hope the book gives a well deserved shout out to the hospital staffs of Children's hospitals all over the country, especially the Child Life Specialists (a.k.a. #Heroes4Healing) that F2FBP have the privilege of working with in our Sunshine Basket outreach. 

Yes, they can.  Every donor can choose to have Sunshine Baskets go to a specific child, children's hospital, medical facility or distributed within children's medical facilities within their local community.  You can also donate into a general fund which distributes Sunshine Baskets all over the country to courageous kids.
